Curated by Jenn Ellis (Apsara Studio) with art historian Emie Diamond and produced by Milena Berman of Hautes Côtes, the second iteration of TERRA transforms three historic, private locations at the UNESCO world heritage vineyards of Burgundy into immersive galleries, featuring multidisciplinary works by fifty leading and emerging artists including Wolfgang Tillmans, Mary Webb, Kevin Pinsembert and Danh Vo. The exhibition interweaves various mediums within each space, spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics and site-specific installations, with newly commissioned works.

At the heart of TERRA is the concept of terroir, a term rooted in winemaking, interpreted in this context to explore the deep connection between art, place and history. As visitors journey through the spaces, they are invited to “taste place” in each unique setting, serving as a portal into the art that they temporarily house. This year’s exhibition unfolds across three core themes – storytelling, liminality, and intimacy.

TERRA reimagines the traditional exposition model, combining elements of a commercial art exhibition with the curatorial sensibilities of a biennale. Selected through an open call as well as direct collaboration with artists and galleries, participants include a significant number of emerging women artists and next-generation voices from the global South such as Metis-supported Syagini Ratna Wulan and Nani Wijaya.
